A Funny Tune
You know christians sing a funny tune sometimes. Then again most of humankind are like that. Didn't jesus say"Love God,Love others and Love yourself."? Love yourself being last? So what should be done when someone is in need and you can provide? Should you think of a way it can work...? Or worry about yourself and how much of a hit your pocketbook will take? Or any other number of scenarios that could happen.
You can say like many have said here and elsewhere to me that no one is obligated...People have to watch out for themselves etc. But is that what jesus would have told us to do? If jesus was like people nowadays would he have fed people like he did by multiplying those fish and that bread in the bible? Probably not. If he was like people and christians now he would stop and think a few differen't things..."These people look a little shifty...I don't know about them they may hurt my diciples... I am not obligated to help them.... Why feed them? Who knows how greatfull they will actually be?.."
Yes I am aware that people aren't perfect. But how long can you use that as an excuse aswell? If you have an opportunity to help and don't and continue to pass up opportunities to help people and keep on making excuses can you then say people aren't perfect? Do people who have a seemingly bad attitude deserve less respect and less help then those who are happy go lucky? Do you consider that these people with a so called 'chip on their shoulder' have probably been through much more than many people can imagine and are just getting completly worn down? They may not have the energy anymore for all the pleasantries and because you see them as rude or some other thing you choose not to help them even though they are obviously in need.
Did jesus say only help those who are pleasant to you? Did he say help only those who look nice and clean and favorable? Did he say don't go to far out of your way to help after all you need to look after yourself?
Think about what you are saying to others and about what your own bible says about how you are to treat others and what your actions are to show. No I am not a christian but I use to be and am well aware of the message jesus preached.
Just think about replying here before you rant about how people have to be more careful nowadays. I do value the comments but would like people to take some time and think about what I type here rather than jumping right away to defending themselves.

Hey man, just blogsurfing. I'm a Christian (that word has so many bad connotations that I almost don't want to use it anymore) and I totally agree with you. Modern Christianity is often so far away from the original message - in fact, I doubt a lot of Christians really know the original message. Jesus has become just another 'self help' method amongst many. You're not wrong. Keep asking challenging questions.

So I take it you're having a hard time and not many people are helping you still? If there was something I could do to help, believe me I would. =)

Reply to: Sam...On the off chance you come back to read my reply to your comment...Yeah using the word christian nowadays...it can be confusing at best... I mean when someone tells me they are christian I have to ask ...ok are you like Mormon? Jehovahs witness? Then if not well which denomination? etc...

Right now I am not looking for a religious path and haven't been for awhile. I just want people who profess to be on one religious path to actually follow what there religious path itself profess' If that makes sense...:S
