Your going to hell!
It has been quite a while since my last post. About two weeks I think. Anyways I decided to post on the topic of hell. Have you ever been told that you will go to hell? If you havent been told that maybe you have been told instead to just go to hell. When you think of hell you probably think of a fire and torment kind of hell. A church called the potters house frequently use this hell representation in their pamhlets. But is the fire and torment hell really well real? Is it the hell all those who deny God will go to?
Fire and Torment hell Many christians groups believe in the fire and torment hell. After all isent it in the bible? You know the gnashing of teeth and the intense heat. This is the traditional hell of the western world.
Absense of God hell When I heard of this one I was a bit confused. I still am. This hell is one wear God is totally absent. All those who denied him come here. But if these are the ones who didn't believe in God anyway how is this a punishment?
Purgatory Purgatory is a catholic belief. I'm pretty sure it is a place where you go to pay off all your sins. When you have payed them all off you get to go to the place above. You can get there faster if family members pray for you. However if you committed one of the unforgivable sins your well screwed.
Reincarnation Reincarnation is a little different then the rest. It's not exactly a hell. I mean it's living new lives again and again and again. You can come back as anything a dog a horse another human anything. But unless you gain enlightenment you will be stuck in this cycle of forever being reborn. To get out you need to gain enlightenment.
There is no hell hell Jehovahs witnesses and some other religions don't even believe in a hell. They think if you arent going to heaven or living in the paradise on earth you are just dead. No after life for you.
So which "hell" do you believe in. Why do you believe in it? Have you ever even thought about the different "hells" out there?

The Absense Of Hell makes the most sense to me. I'm not a literalist when it comes to the Bible. I understand that so much writing about Hell is a metaphor. But I am clear that Eternal Life is promised to followers of Christ, and that there is a part of my personhood that will exist eternally. So if one dies having lived a life refusing God and His love, the Hell is the destiny. To exist forever and ever, knowing there was the possibility of personal connection with God and eternal bliss, and knowing that you have blown it for all eternity- I think that would be real misery.
I wish you would have promoted this post. I think there would be some interesting insights.

im of the hell = annihilation breed. if being with God = eternal life then not being with him would have to = eternal death - but hw can eternal death still include existence? i dont know. anyway - this topic should bring in some interesting discussion. i agree with pd that you should promote it some...

Reply to: PastorDave It doesn't really make sense that there is a hell because jesus promises eternal life only to those who follow him right? Well then how could those who deny him get that eternal life. Of course hell could be a eternal dying place. You could just die again and again.

The Absence Of God Hell has always fascinated me. See, whether you are a believer of God, or not, God still has a presence that offers a certain protection. That is, God has predestined everything that will happen, so whether you believe in Him, or not, that predestined plan is a layer of protection against the vile evils that would otherwise torment the person. In this Absence Of God Hell, God absolutely leaves you alone, turns His back on you, as you did Him leaving no protection, therefore, absolute terror and torture may happen.
I'm not sure which Hell I believe in... I just hope to never have to find out, for sure! :)

A question for you. You said God has predestined everything. Is it that he has actually planned everything out or that he just knows everything that will heppen? (this is changing topics a little but I just wanted to jump on this.)

I am Catholic and I am pretty sure none of us believes in any "purgatory." "Absence of God hell" does make sense, because the people going there are going to know what they missed out on, pretty much what pastordave said. And this knowledge would cause all the gnashing of the teeth, etc. Fire is unneccessary; I think the torment will be great with or without it. It's not a huge concern of mine; I'll probably look it up in the Bible again eventually and see if the brimstone is literal, but the separation from God definitely is.

Ok sorry about the misrepresentation. But I am pretty sure that it is a catholic group that beleives this. Maybe you don't but it is in the doctrine somewhere. To me the absence of God hell does not make sense because only those who have seen the truth or accepted the truth or however it is put are suppose to live forever have eternal life etc. etc.

sorry for the long delay. i was thinking about some else thats been discussed. the 'absence of God hell.' this seems to conflict with the idea of God being everywhere. so it would mean that one could not hold both ideas. yet im guessing most xians who believe God is everywhere never consider the idea of him being in hell - or that if hell is his absence then he isnt everywhere after all and where else might he not be? sorry for the jumble of thots. its been that kind of month.

It is an interesting topic to think on. God is suppose to be present everywhere yet in hell he isent there.
